The Indigo Girls; Sarah McLachlan; Tori Amos; Janis Joplin; (use headphones first); Etta James; Ella Fitzgerald; Marcia Ball; Koko Taylor; Donna the Buffalo (both male and female leads); if you're going for a chazzanos vibe, try the indigo girls and sarah mclachlan.
Hi SB, nice piece of blues with Grace Potter. Will check the rest later
Still, if I learnt one thing from going OTD, it is that I don't let anyone tell me what I should think is good or not. I happen to love Barbara Streisand's voice and I am not going to apologize for that :)
I know; I know; I'm sorry for being so hard on Babs; it was a general reaction to the kol isha stuff you've posted. Not my cup of tea, but if it's yours, by all means, please, enjoy ... who says you have to be observant to be judgmental? Guilty; will certainly admit to having moments of music snobbery. There's a Sarah McLachlan song that comes to mind called "Hold On." http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=ccYFWcqBNS4 Here's her main lyrics site: http://www.sarahmclachlan.com/music.jsp There is a picture of her wearing a sleeveless dress on the left side of the screen (surf at your discretion). I have her album, "Fumbling Towards Ecstasy." Haven't listened to it in a while, but I liked it a lot, when it came out.
If you're going for Kol Isha, please listen to some good stuff!
ReplyDeleteGrace Potter and friends covering Neil Young's "Cortez the Killer": http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=paeNnR33i5Q

But I am always open to broaden my horizons ;)
