His latest mail showed a picture of a 'photo taken in Alabama:
The mail was forwarded and labeled as "G"D PARTING THE SKY". It was accompanied by the following text:
Bob Frew sent this out.
"I took this picture on Int.20, traveling to Leeds , AL . It has given me strength in the times of trouble. I feel I should share it with the rest of the world. I hope it is an inspiration to you. It just goes to show what we already know...We have a God, and he's watching over us.
I e-mailed this picture to News Channel Fox 6. I was contacted by Meteorologist James Spann. He said that this picture of the sky is showing up in all states and around the world. He wanted to know where I was from and where I took it. He saw a similar picture taken in Texas. He said this is amazing to him.
Would you look at this picture? It reminds me of that song 'He's got the whole world in his hands.' He is definitely in control. I needed this today more than ever.. Enjoy and pass it along!"First thing you need to do when you read any forwarded frum mails is to check your facts. Just go over to Snopes and enter 'Hands of God'. It will quickly lead you here.
The original picture looks like this:
The picture was doctored by someone for www.shacknews.com and doctored with Photoshop in 2 minutes.
Interesting points:
- This is clear proof that someone deliberately misled others in order to make people believe in God.
- Wonderful how fundies always try to make their claims credible (in this case a meteorologist)!
- WTF does the picture prove anyway?!?
And even if the picture HAD been real - how does your gullible cousin explain that this wonder was revealed to a non-Jew in Alabama, rather than the good, pure people of Meah Shearim,or even to the misguided but still Jewish chilonim of Eretz Yisroel?
ReplyDeleteEven if the photo wasn't doctored, this photo is no more significant than the famous 9/11 photo showing the face of the devil in the plumes of smoke just before the towers collapsed.
ReplyDeleteThe original picture is pretty cool. Is that one real or doctored? If it's real, I would say that one can see the hand of God more in the beauty of nature that in actual revelations of body parts. Does your relative actually believe that God is corporeal?
ReplyDeleteIt shows that people of faith will believe anything - no matter how ludicrous - that strengthens their world view.
ReplyDeleteI think this proves a point that I once made at this url http://thinkingbochur.blogspot.com/2010/09/beliefs-validate-actions-actions-dont.html. Proving religion only comes after someone wants to be religious for other reasons. So they will find proof anywhere because the proof is not as relevant as their enjoyment (for lack of a better word) of the religion.
ReplyDeleteI see bunny rabbits in the clouds all the time. I suppose that proves God is a bunny.
ReplyDeleteThanks for all your comments!
ReplyDeleteAnon: Perhaps he had the neshoma of Bil'am? :P
GI: :P
BenSira: Original is real.
RJF: Now you understand why more frum people watch Amnon Yitzchak than secular ones!
I can recommend TB's link to all. Amen!
The doctored photo is very intriguing. One could argue that it represents a "God or Goddess" who's either giving birth, or relieving a fecal impaction!
ReplyDeleteTmimusdik(a) doesn't mean gullible.
ReplyDeleteG*3: A bunny in the form of the Playboy symbol?
ReplyDeleteSY: Gross man!
cup: in this case it does, but i am open for suggestions!
ReplyDeleteReminds me of a goatse pic.
ReplyDeleteJust sayin.
